Navigating from Winnebago to Butte Des Morts/Winneconnie
« on: July 27, 2011, 08:08:11 AM »
Were first time boaters on Winnebago with some experience in boating, but not to much on Winnebago other than riding with others a few times in past. Wanted to know if any one out there has experience navigating from Winnebago at mouth of fox river in Oshkosh to Lake Butte Des Morts and even into Lake Winneconnie. Is it a relatively a straight forward shot through there? Anything to watch out for that you know of?  Special route that you need to take? Better time of the day to go?

We would be launching from High Cliff. We just have a 18' ski boat.

Thanks for any tips!

Sounds like a fun day!  You will want to be careful going through Lake Butte Des Mortes. You want to hug the North side of the lake and stay on plane if you break out south of this area you will hit rocks and it will make for a bad day. If you look on the Maps area you can see a blue line as a reference on what to follow. Again this is just a guide. http://wiparty.com/Boating/Lake%20Butte%20des%20Morts.shtml    Lake Winneconne again the blue line on the map is a guide.  http://wiparty.com/Boating/Lake%20Poygan.shtml  If you are this far, you might want to stop at the Weedbeds and check things out.   I hope this helps!  Have fun and be safe!  ;D
Are we having fun yet?
